Providing Online Information Through MidNet - Updated May 8, 2008

Recent events have made it necessary to limit access to FTP accounts. These accounts will be reactivated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me and we will work with you to either re-establish your account or make other arrangments for submission of your files. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore the MidNet server.

Thank you for considering MidNet as the online home for information about your organization or community group. From its beginning, MidNet’s core mission has been to provide important, Internet-accessible, local information online. Free, unlimited space is available on our Web server to your organization and to any other interested Midlands-based nonprofit organization or community group. Unlike most other Internet services, the MidNet site is free of any commercial advertising. MidNet is supported by the USC School of Library and Information Science and does not charge for any of its services.

In return for free server space, we expect that you take responsibility for the information that you do provide. Your organization should identify a primary contact who will ensure that the information provided is accurate and up-to-date. We encourage you to take this responsibility seriously and to remember that the Internet is a dynamic medium:   users expect that new, interesting, exciting, and important information will await them upon each visit.

Please review the submission procedures. If you have any questions about MidNet’s operations or procedures, please feel free to send email or call me at (803) 777-1928 and leave a voice mail if I am not available.

Sincerely,

Jill Chappell-Fail, MLIS
