History

The Arsenal Hill area of Columbia has a rich history. Back in the early 1800's, the Arsenal Hill area was know as home to many leading citizens of Columbia. Researchers have said that the splendid elevation of the area provided a magnificient panoramic view from the south and west ends of the area, making Arsenal Hill one of the more desirable areas of the city during the antebellum era.

In the past 30 years, Arsenal Hill has undergone many changes. What was once known as a desirable location to reside in, has now become a mostly commercial area.

Members of the Arsenal Hill community meet regularly to discuss strategic ways in which they can further improve the historic community.
