Founded in 1911, the American Society of Safety Engineers is this nation's oldest and largest organization serving the safety & health practitioner. Its more than 30,000 members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. The South Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers was chartered on July 21, 1955. Its founding officers were W. W. Cox, Jr. (President) and J.B. Johnson (Secretary). The SC Chapter was founded to advance the principles of safety in the midlands of South Carolina. Speakers Bureau - The South Carolina Chapter has a Speakers Bureau available to speak on a number of safety related issues, both job related and home safety, as well as addressing students that may have an interest in going into the Safety Profession.
