In order to obtain a business license, there are several procedures that are necessary. The following information was obtained from Sherry T. at the Business License Division located at 1225 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC:

• Go to the Business License Division and request a business license application.
  
• The fee for the license will be based on:
  1. Projected gross income per year
  2. Type of business
  3. Where the business will be performed
  
  
• A clearance procedure is also necessary and if your business is located on commercial property in the city you must go through the
  1. Zoning Division - 733-8323
  2. Building Inspection - 733-8320
  3. Fire Department - 733-8351

  If your business is in Richland County you must go through the:

  1. Zoning Division - 733-8323
  2. Fire Marshall - 254-3063

If the business is in any way food related, you will also have to go through an inspection by the Health Department. They can be reached at 748-4980 for instructions.
