BARRIER ISLANDS:  
Savannah and Tybee Island
Savannah was founded by General James Edward Oglethorpe. He arrived on the shores of the Savannah River in 1733. He chartered the 13th colony on this site for England and named it after the king, King George II. Tybee Island is a 15- mile drive from Savannah’s historic downtown. You can collect shells, swim, fish or visit one of the oldest lighthouses on the eastern seaboard.

Skidaway Island State Park

Folkston

It is called "Gateway to the Okefenokee Swamp." Folkston is home to the Suwannee Canal entrance to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. There are campgrounds, motels, shops, recreational activities and southern hospitality awaiting you.
