Formed in Columbia, South Carolina in the Spring of 1994, the Dharma Dogs is a
band that places great emphasis on constantly improving its
live show. With a sound that alternates between raw, distorted
mayhem and a smoother, more free-form style, the band always
puts on a varied and energetic performance. While the Dharma
Dogs is a relatively young band, it has made great strides and
continues to garner an ever increasing fan base.
The band traces its influences to a variety of artists, from
the grunge of Nirvana to the improvisation of the Grateful Dead
to the folk / rock of Bob Dylan. These disparate musical styles
are then taken and incorporated along with stirring vocal harmonies
into a powerful sound that is at once original and enticing.
Having played with artists such as Col. Bruce Hampton and Leftover Salmon,
the band has attracted a substantial local following and is now seeking
to spread their sound to a larger audience.
Left to right: Raef Mills (vocals and guitar), David Britt (vocals and guitar), Phil Mohr (bass) and Mike Holiday (drums).
