April 1, 1996 Columbia, SC - Kids who don't have computers at home can now access the internet at any one of 15 city parks, thanks to the combined efforts of The Cooperative Ministry, Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Technical College, the City of Columbia, and MidNet.

 Mayor Bob Coble says....

We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to all the children and their parents who use our city parks. This program will help to supplement our schools' efforts and enhance computer literacy training by providing a safe, fun atmosphere for learning.

  From Stephen Bajjaly....
MidNet Project Coordinator

The "Information Age" means we all need to know about computers and online information. The sooner that children-- all children-- learn these these valuable skills, the better prepared they'll be to face the challenges of the 21st century.
