Purpose

The Links defines itself as "a group of friends committed to civic, educational, and cultural activities, with the singular purpose of serving community needs for the improvement of life and the pursuit of excellence."

The National Program consists of four facets:

Projects

As a part of its commitment to youth services, the Columbia Chapter of The Links, Inc. has established The LinkScholars Program Fund. The goal of The LinkScholars Program is to support promising African American high school graduates from the Midlands area through a program at an accredited South Carolina College or University. The scholarships are need and merit based.  Additional consideration is given to Historically Black Institutions.  This program is administered through the Central Carolina Community Foundation.

Funding

The Links, Inc. is mainly supported by membership dues and fundraising activities. The chapters can also apply for funds from the National Foundation of The Links, Inc.  The 2004 fundraising activity is “An Affair To Remember”, a Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament on September 10 at Wildewood Golf Course, Breakfast & Bridge on the morning of September 11 and a Blues & Barbeque Dinner Dance that night.  For ticket information, see the contact number above.

All contributions are tax deductible. The Links Foundation is a 501 3(c) organization.
