A CHILD WHO CAN READ IS A CHILD WHO CAN SUCCEED!

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY INVESTING YOUR TIME, TALENT OR RESOURCES!

The seeds you plant in these children will encourage growth in our future volunteers and philanthropists!

  1. Commit one hour per week to volunteer as a reader or tutor.
    • Go to "Get Involved" and send in an application.
    • Ask a friend to join with you.
  2. Recruit a team from your place of work or worship.
    • Ask your employer if a team can do community service once per week.
    • Ask your place of worship to put an announcement in the bulletin.
  3. Commit to assist with special events, readings and book giveaways.
    • Help is needed several times per year to staff a table or do special readings.
    • Books need to be checked in, labeled and sorted twice per year.
  4. Host a fundraiser to sponsor one of our two book giveaways.

(Currently, we impact 4,000 children and give each child a new book twice per year at an average cost of $3 per book totaling $12,000 per giveaway.)

    • Create a competition among co-workers to purchase a specific number of books.
    • Ask business partners, family and friends to invest in a tax deductible gift to raise money.
    • Adopt a district or school by sponsoring one or two of their book giveaways or provide volunteers to read or tutor reading.
  5. Be an ambassador for Rolling Readers:
    • Ask business partners, friends and relatives to donate in-kind gifts (door prizes), refreshments or a location for our volunteer appreciation celebrations.
    • Sponsor a pizza celebration for our middle or high school volunteers.
(Twice per year we express our appreciation by providing fun, food and fellowship. This enables those of like passions to share memories and successes while strengthening their commitment to the children. Similarly, twice per year we appreciate our youth by providing pizza and drinks while they sign the books to be distributed to the children they read to that semester.)
