Storyteller's Creed
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.
That myth is more potent than history.
That dreams are more powerful than facts.
That hope always triumphs over experience.
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death.
-- Robert Fulghum

(Article II of the 3 Rivers Storytelling Guild's Constitution and Bylaws)

Three Rivers is dedicated to the promotion of the art of storytelling in the Midlands area. Composed of storytellers (beginners through professionals) and those generally interested in storytelling, Three Rivers promotes storytelling through a variety of direct and indirect efforts -- storytelling events, participation in various festivals, storytelling workshops, providing contact between those needing storytellers and local storyteller, etc.

WHY THE NAME THREE RIVERS?
Three Rivers gets its name from the three rivers that meet in the Columbia area. Though many factors went into choosing the location for Columbia, undoubtedly the convergence of the Saluda and the Broad Rivers to make the Congeree River had a lot to do with the its location. Since those colonial days, all three rivers have continued to play an important part in the area's economy, life, and culture. Today plans for these rivers include redeveloping the areas in the city into shops and restaurants; While the areas outside the city concentrate on maintaining the natural beauty of the rivers -- including river rafting. So it is fitting that the name Three Rivers was chosen.

3 RIVERS' MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION Membership is open to anyone genuinely interested in the art.

Membership in the 3 Rivers Storytelling Guild costs just $15.00 a year -- September 1 to August 31. And $7.50 after February 1.

Dues for full-time students will be $5.00.
